Are you worried about your privacy on the web? Posted on July 3rd
Google must divulge the viewing habits of every user who has ever watched any video on its YouTube site, a US court has ruled. Is this a setback for internet users?
The ruling follows a court case in which the media company Viacom has alleged that YouTube is guilty of copyright infringement.
It means the Viacom – which owns MTV and Paramount Pictures - will be handed records (log-in ID, IP address and video clip details) of every video which YouTube users around the world have watched.
Digital rights group the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) called the ruling a “set-back to privacy rights”.
Do you watch video clips on line? Are you concerned about your privacy rights? Will this ruling make you rethink how you use internet video sites?
